Privacy Notice

Samsung Electronics Nordic AB (“Samsung”, “we”, “us”, “our”) know how important privacy is to our customers, and we strive to be clear about how we collect, use, disclose, transfer, and store your personal information.

This Privacy Notice applies to the use of “Clean Your Conflict”, a service where users may receive guidance from an expert on how to handle conflicts stemming from tensions in the laundry room (the “Service”). Clean Your Conflict is available on the web address www.cleanyourconflict.com. This Privacy Notice applies regardless of whether you use a computer, mobile phone, tablet, TV, home appliance device, or other smart device to access the Service.

1. Information We Collect

We do not ask for or require any personal data when you use the Service, other than your IP-address so that we can connect you with our expert.

If you choose to send an email to book an appointment with our expert, your name and email address will be processed. We cannot stop you from sending other personal data about you, but we are not asking for it – we only need your name and email address to set up an appointment with our expert.

We also collect information from analytics and functional cookies (please see our cookie policy for information about this).

2. Using your information

We will use your IP-address to enable the video chat with our expert.

If you send us an email to book an appointment, we will use your name and email address to administrate timeslots and appointments, and to correspond with you regarding your appointment.

Samsung’s legal basis to process the IP-address and your name and email address is that it is necessary for the (i) performance of a contract between you and Samsung (the Terms and Conditions for the Service), accepted by you as you use the Service; and/or (ii) in order to take steps at your request to enter into the contract (i.e. you send a request for booking an appointment).

3. Sharing your information

We may disclose your information internally within our business to the relevant teams such as, without limitation, the customer services team, the legal team, and the finance team. We may also disclose your information to the following entities, only to the extent that this will be necessary to perform the Service:

  • Service Providers. We may disclose your information to carefully selected companies that provide services for or on behalf of us, such as companies that help us with repairs, customer contact centres, customer care activities, advertising, conducting customer satisfaction surveys, billing, or that send emails on our behalf. These entities are limited by contractual provisions in their ability to use your information for purposes other than providing services for us. For the Service, our creative agency will provide services to us that entails the processing of personal data, and it has in turn engaged another company (Twilio) to enable the video chat functionality of the Service. Twilio will process your IP-address as a personal data controller, in accordance with its own privacy policy which you can find here.
  • Other Parties When Required by Law or as Necessary to Protect Our Services. There may be instances when we disclose your information to other parties:
    • to comply with the law or respond to compulsory legal process (such as a search warrant or other court order);
    • to verify or enforce compliance with the policies governing our services; and
    • to protect the rights, property, or safety of Samsung, or any of our respective affiliates, business partners, or customers.

4. International transfer of data

Your IP-address will be transferred to the United States of America, for the provision of the Service as described above regarding service providers. The safeguard mechanism for the transfer is the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield.

5. Your rights

You have the right to request details about the information we collect about you and to request us to correct inaccuracies in that information, to object to or request the restriction of processing, and to request access to, or the erasure or portability of your information. Under the laws of some jurisdictions, we may decline to process requests that are unreasonably repetitive, require disproportionate technical effort, jeopardise the privacy of others, are extremely impractical, or for which access is not otherwise required by local law. If you would like to make a request to access your information, please visit our Privacy Support page for Sweden, Denmark, Norway or Finland.

If you request deletion of personal information, you acknowledge that you may not be able to access or use the Service and that residual personal information may continue to reside in Samsung’s records and archives for some time, in compliance with applicable law, but Samsung will not use that information for commercial purposes. You understand that, despite your request for deletion, Samsung reserves the right to keep your personal information, or a relevant part of it, in line with the below section on “Data Retention” and applicable laws. Samsung may suspend, limit, or terminate your access to the website for violating the Samsung Terms of Use when necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of Samsung, or any of our respective affiliates, business partners, employees, or customers.

6. Data retention

The last 1500 IP-addresses in the server logs are stored by our creative agency, but no single IP-address is stored for longer than one week.
